About Doris Jansen Greeting Cards
Dr. Doris Jansen is a Marin County watercolor artist who is inspired by the beauty and magic she sees in her daily walks, and the images she has photographed during her lifetime of world travel.
She transitioned from photography to painting only after she retired from her day jobs, which included working as an economist for Wells Fargo, the World Wildlife Fund and the World Bank. During her career she worked in 14 African countries and lived in Zimbabwe for 13 years.
She has taken watercolor workshops from Hazel Soan, Julie Cohen, Dale Laitinen, Tony Couch, and Birgitte O’Connor. However, she has grown as an artist primarily from study and experimentation. Watercolor is a fascinating medium and often provides “happy surprises” when it is allowed the freedom to create its own magic.
Doris enjoys making notecards from her paintings and has been surprised by how well they have sold, and how often she has been told they have even been framed by the purchaser.
